We are extremely saddened to hear of the passing of our dearest Mahes Aunty. She was more than a cherished family friend. The best type of Aunty to me showing affection throughout her life. After the 1958 riots when we returned to Kokuvil I had only the dress I was wearing. Mahes Aunty stayed up the whole night to sew me ten new dresses. The affection for us extended across a generation as she made her always in-demand famous cake for both my daughters’ weddings. While Mahes Aunty’s sewing and cooking abilities were renowned, they symbolise a life of giving love to the others. Mahes Aunty May the Almighty rest your soul.
