Mr Leonard Antoninus Savundrajan Selvaratnam was born in Jaffna, Sri Lanka and lived in Middlesbrough UK until he passed away on 28th July 2022.

Son to the late Mr Soosaipillai Antony Selvaratnam and Mrs Josephine(Baby) Selvaratnam.

Beloved husband to Mrs Cecilia Rose Selvaratnam.

Loving father to Dr Jennifer Selvaratnam (Nayee) and David Selvaratnam.

Loving father-in-law to Annabell Selvaratnam and Jayesh Nayee.

Loving and caring grandfather to Ava and Mia.

Adored brother to Jacintha Bridget Arunthathy (Baba), Oxford Logamariarajan(Loga), Joanna Baptistita Jeyanithy(Jeya), Mary Dolarose Thayanithy(Thaya), Bernadette Navanihy(Nava), Thimothy Kiruparajan(Kirupa), Annette Vasanthanihy(Vasanty) and Herman Egild Davinrarajan(Davi).

Leonard (Savundrajan) was born in Jaffna, Sri Lanka. He attended St Patrick’s College in Jaffna (1955-1961), St Michael’s College in Batticaloa (1962-1966) and then Hardy Technical Institute (1967-1969).

In 1970, Leonard left Sri Lanka to read Civil Engineering at Teesside Polytechnic (now University) in Middlesbrough, UK where he acquired his Bachelor of Science degree. Thereafter, he went on to gain his Chartered Engineer qualification from the Institute of Civil Engineers.

His career spanned the private and public sector, starting at Simpson and Coulson in Teesside, working at Kuwait Oil Company in Kuwait, and finally Redcar & Cleveland Council as a Principal Structural Manager until he retired in 2010 at the age of 62 years old.
