Late Srinivasan was a pioneer politician from the diaspora and successfully elected to the parliament of Sti Lanka. He was remembered for joint efforts in politics and working with most of the leading personalities of all spectrum. After the anti-Tamil pogrom in 1977, he started to dedicate his life and resources for the benefit of the people at large. He was a firebrand activist, but he had his way of reaching out to friends and a sense of humour beyond the political divide. He risked his comfort and life to undertake complex tasks others would not dare to touch. He had the acumen to take on the new political matrices and rode the waves of challenges rather than staying in his cocoon. He was a man of valour but wanted to find a negotiated solution. When he worked for TLO, PLOTE and ENDLF, he intended to bring unity among Tamils. He was elected to parliament under the TULF alliance. His absence in the 30 years of a political campaign is a tremendous loss for the political movement. Srini was supported relentlessly by his wife Chandradevi, who toiled long hours to take care of the home and stood by him through thick and thin with her twins. I salute his wife and four daughters for their sacrifices through the times of trials and tribulations. With a heavy heart and profound sadness, I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
