Everyone in the Sai family calls her Amma. She was blessed by Sathya sai Baba, when he touched her head. Her faith in Baba was unshakeable. Whenever we needed food for the Sai centre, she was always willing to prepare it for the devotees. I was fortunate to travel with her to Puttaparthi in 2006 and to Rishikesh in 2010. In Rishikesh, we visited the Shivananda Ashram, which is located on a hill. I told Amma to stay at the bottom while we climbed the approximately 40 steps to the top. After resting for a few minutes at the top, I was surprised to see Amma behind me; she had climbed all the way up by herself without any support. She simply said, “I am fine.” Her courage and determination were her strengths, which helped her journey through 96 years of life. Even though she would sometimes argue about certain issues, she never hidden any ill feelings towards anyone. We all miss this loving lady among us.
