Dear John Pathinathan, Most Rev Dr Justin Gnanapragasam (Bishop of Jaffna), Most Rev Dr Jebaratnam (Vicar General of Jaffna), Most Rev Dr Emmanuel Fernando (Bishop of Mannar) , Most Rev Fr Victor Sasai (Vicar General of Mannar) and my brother Priests. The message of Rev Father James Pathinathan being called to rest was received with profound sadness. The Tamil Catholic Community in Sydney mourns his passing. Please accept our deepest sympathies and be assured of our prayers for the soul of the late Fr Pathinathan and every one of you mourning the loss of a highly respected and well-regarded priest in our community. He will be sorely and acutely missed by the respective Diocese of Jaffna and Mannar owing to his ardent and steadfast support of their constituent Tamil communities. We understand and appreciate that he would have faced significant opposition and harassment for his advocacy during the troublesome years of our people's struggle In the presence of our Lord, he is now more alive than any of us.
