Emily Ratneswary Gunaratnam born in Malaysia and lived in Jaffna, Trincomalee and Toronto Canada has passed away peacefully on January 05, 2020 surrounded by her loving family.

She loved the Lord, and was an educator at heart. She influenced, befriended, and touched the lives of many people and is now safe in the arms of Jesus.

Emily was the cherished wife of Paul Vyramuttu Gunaratnam for 59 years. She was also the much-loved mother(mother-in-law) of Joshua Dheenathayalan (Shanthini), Cherubim Potkaran (Tania), Seraphim Geetharanan (Hannah Kumudini), Olive Sumangali (Joel Suresh), Esther Kalyani (Leslie Soosaipillai), Paul Aravindan (Ruth Emmi), and Timothy Vinotharan (Lydia Rukshi).

Emily was the fun-loving and laughter-filled grandmother of 16 grandchildren: Zipporah, Jeshurun, Anjalee, Davepriyan, Aaron, Stephanie, Jonathan, Jeremy, Rishona, Martin, Mark, Caleb, Rivka, Kaitlyn, Rachel, and Ivanna.

She is the beloved sister of Charlotte Vijayaratnam and late sisters Florence Gunawardena and Matilda Joseph, along with her parents John and Margaret Selvanayagam, and parents-in-law James and Lucy Vyramuttu.
