To hear about the passing of my long‑time friend brings back so many memories of the days we worked together on various social projects in Colombo. I have known him since the 1970s, when he was serving in the Customs Department, and from that time onward he became a true and trusted friend. He was present at every important moment in my life, attending all our family functions—both in Colombo and later in Canada—and we did the same for him. He helped countless people, both personally and professionally, never seeking recognition or praise. He was an unassuming man, humble in every way, and he never held grudges against anyone, whether friend or foe. His time has now come to depart this world. He lived a full and meaningful life surrounded by his children, his friends, and all those who cared for him. Rest in peace, my dear friend.
