My Father’s Faith

My father never taught me how to pray with words
He lived his faith from day to day
And in his life I saw and felt God’s care
Greater than words could ever put it there
His voice was always gentle, kind and firm
His hand worn with honest work well done
The lessons that he taught I could not learn
From books or memory
But by his own example in the living of each day
He showed me heaven.... and God and love
And thus my Father taught me how to pray
