The loss of Arulmaninathan came as a shock to all of us who have known him from the age of 8. Initially at union college and from age 11 at Mahajana college. During those years , Arulmaninathan stood out as the best carnatic musician and the best to sing the Thirumurai. He is gifted with a divine voice. He inherited his talents from the great musician Othuvar Moorthy Thiru Subramaniam his Father. Music teachers and students envy his talent and listen to his songs with great admiration. He is so humble , and accept the honours and prizes he won with a smile. We have never seen him angry or used harsh words. He always receive people with a humble smile. He sings at assembly, temples and in music concerts.Last Thirumurai concert I heard him perform was At Tellipalai Thurkaiamman temple in early 1980s which was Divine. We were blessed to hear him sing in our morning prayer group since October 2024 till 4 weeks ago when he took ill. He sang and recorded 10 Thiruvasaham , for our group at our requests, which probably were the last few songs he sang which we will treasure. His divine soul reached maturity and the great Lord Shiva himself wanted to keep him close to his feet. The Tamil community has lost a great musician and a divine soul.
